Youth Ministry

A Message from our Youth Pastor

Noroton Youth Ministry (NYM)

The youth ministry works in partnership with families, encouraging students in grades 6-12 in the Christian faith through a variety of activities, weekly gatherings, retreats, and mission experiences. As a Christian ministry, we make it our goal to actively participate in making disciples, cultivating community, serving others, and welcoming all.

The SHAC is where Noroton Youth come together!

Other Offerings

WORSHIP & music

Begins Oct. 2, 2023

We welcome all teens in grades 6 – 12 who love to sing or play an instrument of any kind (i.e. guitar, violin, drums, etc.) to join us for our fun worship band called, WORSHIP TEENS! The band is led by Jenifer Condon, NPC’s Worship Leader, and assisted by Kenny Weiss and Dwayne Condon. Rehearsals are scheduled for the first and third Mondays of the month at 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Small Groups

Begins Oct. 2, 2023

NYM Small Groups, for all high schoolers and middle schoolers, meet every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 6-7:30pm. From 6-6:30 we have a potluck dinner, then we break out into small groups for the rest of our time together. If you’re looking to go deeper in your faith and in your friendships, our small groups are for you!

CONFIRMATION

Begins Sep. 24, 2023

In confirmation, eighth graders explore the Christian faith and its basic tenets and will be part of pastor led conversations about what they believe and why. This is a process that leads to membership in the church: when a young person not only affirms their identity in Christ but also assumes the communal responsibility that comes with being a person of faith.

COMMUNITY

Midnight
Run

Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless.

NPC partners with Midnight Run on the 3rd Friday of every Month.

We ask for 3-5 volunteers every month, with 1-2 drivers to help transport the group.

The Midnight Run organization recommends all volunteers be age 14 years and older. If a minor is volunteering, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 21 years or older.

Each month we clothe and feed approximately 100 to 150 homeless people.

Crosslit

Begins September 11, 2023

Every Monday 7:00-7:25am

United Methodist Church
345 Middlesex Rd.

This faith based ministry was created to serve all Darien High School students– athletes, artists and academics alike! CrossLit offers DHS students a place to gather together for support, fellowship, encouragement and personal growth. We meet every Monday morning, unless school is closed or it is a national holiday. ALL STUDENTS are WELCOME to attend! Grab & go breakfast is also provided.

Horton Scholarship

NPC established the Horton Scholarship in memory of Rev. Dr. Lawrence M. Horton, and has provided financial aid to grateful students for over 40 years. If you are a student headed to college, a member of NPC, active in the church, and would like to be considered for a scholarship, you can fill out an Application Form.

To continue this legacy, please prayerfully consider making a gift to the Horton Scholarship fund. Click “Make a Gift” and choose “Horton Scholarship” from the fund options.
