Hometown Support Volunteers Care for People in the Military Community

H.E.R.O.E.S. Care provides complete and proactive support for members of all branches of the military and their loved ones, with special attention to post-9/11 families. The Hometown Support Program of H.E.R.O.E.S. Care exists in churches across the nation to provide local, long-term, one-on-one, confidential care to this unique community.

HOMETOWN SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS ARE LAY PEOPLE IN NPC's CONGREGATION

NPC church members with gifts for caring and a heart for those who serve our country are eligible to serve in this role. Hometown Support Volunteers are:
  • Stephen Ministers, who subsequently receive ten additional hours of training.
  • Individuals who listen, care, pray, support, encourage, and problem-solve.
  • Committed individuals who will be a consistent presence, meeting faithfully about 2x/month as long as there is a need and participating in regular supervision.
  • Able to maintain absolute confidentiality.
If you or someone you know could benefit from a H.E.R.O.E.S. Care Hometown Support Volunteer, or if you are interested in training to provide this kind of care, please contact Evie Knight; 203-228-4228.
