Call to Worship

Congregational Hymn

“In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light my strength my song
This Cornerstone this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love what depths of peace, When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My Comforter my All in All, Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid, Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day, Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory, Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine, Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

“Christ Be Magnified”

Were creation suddenly articulate
With a thousand tongues to lift one cry
Then from north to south and east to west
We’d hear Christ be magnified

Were the whole earth echoing His eminence
His name would burst from sea and sky
From rivers to the mountain tops
We’d hear Christ be magnified

Chorus
O Christ be magnified, Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me, O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life, Christ be magnified in me

When ev’ry creature finds its inmost melody
And ev’ry human heart its native cry
O then in one enraptured hymn of praise
We’ll sing Christ be magnified

Chorus
I won’t bow to idols, I’ll stand strong and worship You
And if it puts me in the fire, I’ll rejoice ‘cause You’re there too
I won’t be formed by feelings, I hold fast to what is true
If the cross brings transformation, Then I’ll be crucified with You

‘Cause death is just the doorway, Into resurrection life
If I join You in Your suff’rings, Then I’ll join You when You rise
And when You return in glory, With all the angels and the saints
My heart will still be singing, My song will be the same

Chorus 2X

Prayer of Confession

Compassionate Jesus, you are love, but so often we forget to love our neighbors. You are the Word made flesh, but so often we fail to live out our faith. You are humble, but so often we are consumed with pride. You are constant, but so often we run away when things get difficult. Forgive us Lord, and help us to become more and more like you – to lead with love, action, humility and faithfulness  (time of silent confession).

Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host:
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven,
and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of The People and The Lord’s Prayer

Prayer Focus: Tom and Dora Becker, Roma Networks, Europe and St. Thomas More, Darien
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

*Congregational Song

“Be Still My Soul (In You I Rest)”

Be still my soul the Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain
Be still my soul thy best thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end

Be still my soul Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake
All now mysterious shall be bright at last
Be still my soul The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below

Chorus
In You I rest in You I found my hope
In You I trust
You never let me go
I place my life within Your hands alone
Be still my soul, Be still my soul

Be still my soul the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord
When disappointment grief and fear are gone
Sorrow forgot Love’s purest joys restored
Be still my soul when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last

Chorus 2X

Be still my soul
